Betrayal - Lee Nichols
Betrayal is book two in the Haunting Emma series. It is every bit as thrilling as Deception (book 1) with twists and turn I would never have guessed. It starts about a week after the devastating event of book 1. Emma is trying to get her life back on track and focus on getting rid of Neos, the bad guy. But soon everything is turn upside down when a trip to visit the Knell (the ghostkeepers HQ) goes horribly wrong and Emma is forced to go back to Echo Point to train to fight Neos all the while trying to repair friendships and nurse a her broken heart and trying to figure who amoung her group of friends has betrayed her. Now, this is every bit as good as Deception (book 1) but it has a lot more action and a lot more new characters. As I I have already spoke about Emma in book 1 I won't go into much here. She is a really awesome character that's easy to like and connect with. However, she is quite vulnerable and I think that opens up a whole new side of her. The new characters bring a whole new dynamic to the story and the relationships between the existing characters. Sadly though Bennett isn't in this one as much. I really missed him throughout it. Hope we see more of him in book 3. The plot itself is a lot more quick passed and action packed than the previous. It just seemed to flow a lot more smoothly until near the end and there is one hell of twist that I didn't see coming. It was a big disappointment. I don't want to say much about it without giving anything away. But yeah, it a was shocker!! Apart from that though the ending is set up perfectly for book 3 and I'm so glad I have it so I start on it next. I highly recommend this book if you have read book 1. And if you haven't read the series yet. Go pick it up They are quick and exciting with just the right amount of ghosts and chills to keep you captivated from start to finish.
